🥿 Shoe Care Tips

Hi there and thanks for stopping by!

As a self proclaimed shoe addict, I thought I’d share some of my favorite storage and care tips to get the most wear out of your favorite pairs!

-Store your shoes in the dark. Sunlight can fade colors and can dry out leather. (This also applies to your handbags!)

-Make sure to stuff your shoes to keep their shape. I love buying white tissue paper in bulk. For tall boots, I know shoe trees are popular, but I recently discovered the pool noodle hack (here), and I think it’s so clever.

-Find a good cobbler. With the right care and repair, a quality pair of shoes can last years. When my leather soles start wearing down, I make sure to stop in at my very favorite cobbler shop, Rago Brothers in Morristown, NJ. (They also ship nationwide and can do an assessment online.) I love having a rubber sole added to leather ones, they’re more slip resistant and last much longer. They even have matching red rubber soles for my beloved Louboutins!

-Check the weather before you head out for the day. This may seem like a no-brainer, but wearing suede in the rain or commuting to work in a pair of lambskin ballet flats with snow and salt on the ground is added unnecessary stress. I love these little rain booties for inclement weather, they’re cute and practical.

I hope you find some of these tips useful! Do you have any tricks for caring for your shoes? Let me know down below, I love hearing from you. :)

Thanks for reading, have a fabulous day.

  1. Make sure the storage area has plenty of air circulation especially if the area has high humidity. Had to do a lot of 'clean up' repair after being gone one summer and my shoes sat in a closet (in Italy), lol.

    1. Wow, Italy! I can’t wait to visit there for the 1st time this summer. Sounds wonderful (not for your shoes though, great tip!). Thanks for reading, Helen!
