Sadly on Thursday we had to put my oldest pup Zero to sleep. Picking him
up from the airport was the best day of my life and Thursday was without a doubt the most heartbreaking, hardest day and our family feels totally different without him.
We took him in as a rescue from Missouri a decade ago when David and I were newlyweds and he truly became our very best friend. He was there through every move and major life event in the last 10 years, both happy and really rough.
Z was an amazing, incredible dog that never met a food he didn’t like, was terrified of fireworks and thunderstorms, despised garbage trucks, was extremely proud when he got groomed, loved his family more than anything as well as a good doggy bag, and I swear he understood English. His stories keep us laughing even now, like the time I thought he snuck out and ran away and he was actually up on our roof!
He had a slew of health problems but in the last 2 weeks he started showing signs of really slowing down. It was terrible to watch and I am so relieved that he is at peace now.
Till we meet again my sweet, handsome boy. You were one in a million and I am so honored and thankful I got to be your Mom.
Zero is sorely missed but in an effort to keep my 2 girls busy we’ve been heading to the park. They love the fresh air and warmer weather, and extra exercise is good for them (and us) during this time.
Thanks for reading. :)
PS-A very happy birthday to my Dad today. Love ya! 💗
