Bonjour!
My Mom and I recently went on another girls day to NYC. This time we booked an appointment to create our own custom lipsticks at Bite Beauty Lab on Prince Street in Soho. I was able to book the appointment online and also made an Open Table reservation for Ladurée Soho.
At Bite Beauty Lab our appointment took about an hour. We each sat at our own station and we removed our current lipstick, did a lip scrub, and applied an agave lip mask to prep our lips. We then talked with our color artist about what we were looking for and which package we would like.
My mom and I both opted for the 2 lipstick package, for $80. I wanted an everyday nude and a bright red. My mom was looking for a red to match a specific nail polish she brought along with us as well as a shimmery bronze for summer.
After a few rounds of the artist mixing colors and trying and editing them, we found the winners. We then got to pick our scents for each tube. I went with cherry and mint and my mom picked coconut and vanilla. After that the color artist melted down the pigment and added a few drops of the scent. She then poured them into molds and set the molds onto a cooling table that was -13C for 5 minutes. Doing so chilled the color enough that she then popped them out and put them into tubes and packaged them up.
This was such a fun experience and being a lover of makeup I felt like a kid in a candy store. The cool part is our tech entered our colors into their database and we can call and reorder anytime. FYI they are a cashless store, so cards only.
After that we had a slice and salad at Ben's Pizza just a stones throw away, and then headed to Ladurée for our 3:00 reservation. We had visited the one in Paris, but never in NYC! I was so looking forward to some Parisian sweets and treats. The inside is stunning, we weren't rushed, and received the very best service. I tried the Marie Antoinette tea, it was delicious! We then sampled some of their new macarons for spring~strawberry poppyseed, yuzu, passion fruit, violet, and peanut butter. It was pretty chilly the day we stopped by but we peeked out the window at the outside bar and I cannot wait to visit again in warmer weather!
We had the nicest afternoon in the city, and both Bite Beauty and Ladurée were fantastic experiences I'll never forget. Here's a recap of our afternoon in pictures:
