🏈 Super Bowl Recipe Roundup 2020

Hello and Happy Friday! With the Super Bowl coming up this weekend I wanted to share a quick round-up of some of my favorite appetizers and snacks for entertaining. None of these recipes reinvent the wheel, but rather they are some of my tried and true no-fail favorites that are sure to impress!

Appetizers~

Pigs in a Blanket~
Duh. Such a favorite and for good reason! Grab a pack of your favorite hot dogs, grab a can of the Annie's all-natural crescent rolls, Chop, wrap, bake, done! I love serving these with honey mustard, the sweet and salty combo is delicious.

Mini Naan Bread Pizzas~
We buy mini naan breads at Costco and they make the best base for mini pizzas! Top with jarred sauce and some shredded mozzarella and a variety of toppings and bake at 400 degrees for 5-6 minutes until the cheese melts. It would also be fun to set up a make-your-own pizza station for guests.

7-Layer Dip~
Another classic, there's nothing better than a cool, creamy dip to go along with some salty tortilla chips. There's hundreds of versions out there but my favorite is: Homemade re-fried beans, browned turkey cooled and drained, salsa, a mix of sour cream and homemade taco seasoning, lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, and sliced black olives on top. You could also forego the meat to have a vegetarian option.

Sandwiches~

Crock Pot Creamy Buffalo Shredded Chicken~
This is so good we make it all year long and wrap it in lettuce leaves! All you do is dump a bunch of chicken breasts in the crock pot along with 1/2 a bottle of your favorite buffalo sauce and 4 tbsp butter. Cube a block of cream cheese and place on top. Cook on low for 4-5 hours and shred chicken with 2 forks. Place back in crock pot and serve with some fresh rolls, celery sticks and plenty of blue cheese!

Crock Pot Sausage & Peppers~
Another hearty sandwich option, I love the crock pot for entertaining because the food stays hot whenever anyone wants to eat. Just add to your crock pot Italian sausage links (sweet, hot, or a combo of both), jarred sauce, sliced bell peppers, and a few onions thinly sliced and cook on low for 7-8 hours. The long cooking time melts all the flavors together and makes the sausage very tender. Serve with some french bread or rolls and this is another great option for game day!

Desserts~

Chocolate Caramel Crispy Cakes~
This is a fun take on rice krispy treats from one of my favorite chefs, Nigella Lawson. They combine only 3 ingredients- corn flakes, Milky Way Bars, and a bit of butter. They're sweet and chocolaty and crunchy and can be made ahead.

Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches~
A fun and refreshing dessert, you can make different flavor cookies and pair with an assortment of ice cream flavors. I love making my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe and making them smaller. Allow them to cool, sandwich a scoop of softened vanilla ice cream between 2 cookies, and wrap in wax paper. Allow to harden in the freezer before serving. You can also roll the ice cream in chopped nuts or sprinkles. These can be made ahead as well, and finger foods are essential for football watching!
