The Peacock Inn dates back to the 1700’s. It has gone through many owners and iterations through the years, but notably Albert Einstein stayed at the inn when he moved to the US, and the basement, known as “Peacock Alley”, was used as a speakeasy during Prohibition.
The hotel and restaurant have an upscale but relaxed feel, the decor and landscaping are immaculate while still feeling warm and welcoming. We ate inside in one of the main dining rooms and really enjoyed a lovely afternoon. We weren’t at all rushed, the tea selection was wonderful, and great thought and detail were put into each and every aspect of the service.
The tea costs $65 per person, not including tax and gratuity. For $95, you can enjoy the tea plus caviar and a flight of champagne. It was very quiet on the Thursday afternoon we visited, but I heard weekends really book and so reservations are required. Here’s the website if you’d like to learn more.
Here’s a few photos of our afternoon in Princeton. It was a wonderful time and I really enjoyed time with my parents!
Thanks for reading, have a fabulous day. :)
