Hi there and thanks for stopping by! Today I’m sharing a recap of a little family road trip we took back in June to celebrate my Grandma’s 84th birthday!
We wanted a place that was a few hour drive, wasn’t too crowded, and had a beach and pool. Bingo!
We headed down to Delaware via the ferry that connects Cape May to Lewes Delaware. It was a 90 minute ride and was lots of fun getting out on the open water on a beautiful day. It was so fun driving our car right onto the boat, and it cut out about an hour of driving.
We stayed at Fenwick Shores, a Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel. It opened in March of this year, after purchasing an older beach motel and totally gutting it. It was gorgeous! Immaculately clean and the prettiest tasteful nautical décor. The lobby had two starfish chandeliers and waterfall feature with a gas fireplace. We spent a lot of time hanging out down there!
The room was very spacious, with 2 queen beds, a pullout sofa, a kitchenette, and a large bathroom. We had an ocean view balcony and had a room on the 2nd floor right by the pool!
The pool as well as the pool bar and breakfast were all wonderful as well. We spent most of our days poolside, but we spent one morning at the beach where we were able to rent chairs and an umbrella. The beach is located a short walk from the hotel, at the end of the block.
Some of the food we enjoyed during our stay was Albertino’s wood fired pizza, Harpoon Hanna’s (you HAVE to try the coconut muffins), Cracker Barrel (because what is a road trip without Cracker Barrel?), and Dumser’s ice cream (the Hawaiian Delight flavor was one of the best ice creams I’ve ever had).
We came home tired, a little sandy, but with lots of fun new memories that I’ll cherish forever.
Did you take any summer road trips? Share with me down below, I love hearing from you!
Thanks for reading, have a fabulous day. :)
